Mary M. Shoot's Obituary
Mary M. Shoot, 90, of Ashmore, IL passed to her heavenly home on Friday, March 14, 2025.
Mary was born on February 18, 1935 to Robert E. and Leona (Bennett) Runnels. On April 11, 1954 she married W. Max Rennels. He preceded her to heaven on November 7, 1977.
On February 12, 1982 she married Robert D. Shoot. He preceded her on October 29, 1993. She was also preceded by her parents, a brother, Richard Runnels, a niece, Karen Halloran, and a stepson, Randy Shoot.
Mary enjoyed making quilts which she shared with her family and playing cards with her friends. She also played the organ at the Ashmore Baptist Church where she’d been a member to for many years. She loved spending time with all of her family.
She was a graduate of the Charleston High School class of 1953.
Surviving are her children: Jane (Kenny) Roe of Hindsboro, IL, Tom (Sue) Rennels of Charleston, IL, Peg (Charlie) Blair of Ashmore, IL, and Gene (Robin) Rennels of Ashmore, IL. Also surviving are grandchildren: Jill (Tim Hutti) Bowers and their children Zoe, Max, Jade, and Coselle; Chris (Cassie) Rennels and their children Zack, Zane, and Miley; Jeff (Angela) Blair and their children Caydin, Logan, and Jacob; Josh (Kelly McKinney) Blair and their children Joshua, Bella, and Emily; Corey Rennels; Codey (Cassie) Rennels and their children Carsyn and Baby Rennels due in September; a stepson Chris Shoot; 3 step grandchildren: Michelle, Clayton, and Brandon, and step great-grandchild Nora, as well as 3 nieces and 4 nephews.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Lusk and Pastor David Colvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashmore Cemetery. Casual attire is requested.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activity Fund at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care in Mary’s name, 716 18th St., Charleston, IL 61920 or to the Ashmore Park Fund, 212 N. Oakland Rd., Ashmore, IL 61912.
