William A. Guymon's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - William A. (Bill) Guymon, age 69, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 while at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. There will be no public visitation or services. Thoughtful donations in his honor may be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter. Gifts may be mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Bill was born January 30, 1947 in Mattoon, IL to the late Albert R. and Loula Belle (McKee) Guymon. He and Connie Niles were married June 14, 1968 in Charleston by Brother Jess Adams and they have shared 48 years of marriage. In addition to his wife Connie he leaves three daughters to cherish his memory, Tammy (John) St. Clair of Brocton, IL, Josie (Joe) Martin of Indianapolis, IN and Ginger (Don Murdock) Guymon of Windsor, IL. Bill also leaves five granddaughters, Andrea, Ally and Ashley Jo Martin, all of Indianapolis, Karry Guymon of Brocton and Caitlin McGowan of Sullivan, IL; three great-grandchildren, Bobby, Logan and Lyli; a sister, Betty (Charles) Mears of Mattoon; and his canine best friend and companion, Nicky. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Bob and Jim Guymon and a sister, Judy Cody. Bill honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1965-1967 and was a member of the Mattoon American Legion Post 88. For 24 years he was employed by Coles County and worked in the maintenance department for the courthouse and jail. Bill loved the outdoors and his hobbies included fishing, hunting and camping. He could sit on the sun porch for hours with Nicky by his side watching the birds and other wildlife. He was known to have the best fed squirrels around as he would hand feed them cookies. Bill will be missed by his family and friends who have many wonderful memories to treasure and share with one another.
