Wanda V. Coffey's Obituary
ASHMORE, IL - Wanda V. Coffey, age 91 of Ashmore, passed away peacefully with loving family at her side on Monday, November 11, 2019. Visitation will be held from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service, honoring and celebrating her life, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the funeral chapel with Pastor Adam Solorio officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashmore Cemetery in Ashmore. Donations in her honor may be made to the two churches she attended: New Life Fellowship Church in Terre Haute or to the Church of Casey. Gifts may be left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Wanda was born August 27, 1928 in Oakland, Illinois, a daughter of Leslie and Tressie (Green) Swinford. She married Kenneth E. Coffey, Sr. on June 29, 1947 and they were married nearly 62 years prior to his death on March 30, 2009. Ken and Wanda were the parents of five sons, all of Ashmore: Ken (deceased) and wife Linda, Gary and wife Marylee, Randy, Terry and wife Bev, and Tom and wife Paula. Wanda was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Ken (Gwen) Coffey III, Kimberly Coffey, Jeremy (Lisa) Coffey, Jason (Connie) Coffey, Tami (Rob) Ogden, Kyle (Amanda) Coffey, Kurt (Kristin) Coffey, Christina Coffey, Clint Coffey, Laura (Chris) Johnson and Tommy Coffey, Jr. and twenty great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Melvin Swinford of Charleston; three sisters, Mona Parker of Lakewood, California, Marie (Ken) McGlothlin of Jasper, Indiana, Madonna (Bill) Coffey of Ashmore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wanda was also preceded in death by a brother, Myron Swinford, and three sisters, Mauvie Lenhart, Mildred Struska and Farie Hildebrand. Wanda was a graduate of Charleston High School and retiree of Eastern Illinois University. She lived her life guided by her unwavering faith in God and she was such a blessing to a family who were the recipients of her bounteous love and devotion. Fond memories of Wanda will always be held near and dear in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Funeral ServiceThe funeral service honoring and celebrating the life of Wanda Coffey was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastors Adam Solorio and Jeff Harpole officiating. Mrs. Barbara Brown served as pianist and played a medley of Wanda's favorite hymns for the prelude and postlude. A poem titled ""Life Is Eternal"" was read by grandson Clint Coffey. A reading titled ""Mother-in-Law: To His Mother"" was read by daughter-in-law, Mrs. Paula Coffey. And ""My Prayer"" written by Wanda Coffey was read by grandson, Kyle Coffey. Burial followed at the Ashmore Cemetery in Ashmore, Illinois. Pallbearers were: Kyle Coffey, Kurt Coffey, Kenneth Coffey, III, Jeremy Coffey, Jason Coffey, Clint Coffey, Tommy Coffey, Jr., Rob Ogden and Chris Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers were: Kimberly Coffey, Tami Ogden, Christina Coffey, Laura Johnson, Lisa Coffey, Connie Coffey, Amanda Coffey and Kristin Coffey.
