Violet was born September 14, 1922, the youngest of four children born to Hershel Riley "HR" and Mariah Elizabeth (Hamilton) Landon. She was married to Charles L. Wuersch and later to Gorden W. Pruitt and both preceded her in death. She is survived by son, Ben Wuersch of Charleston, brother, H. Dwain Landon of Los Altos, California, and several nieces and nephews in this area, and a step-niece and step-nephew that spent some time living with Gordie and Vi. She was also preceded by two brothers, Melvin C. Landon of Porterville, California and Albert L. Landon of Mattoon, and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn "Mem" Wuersch. Growing up in Mattoon, she attended beauty school, and following WWII she was a beautician at Thelma Hart's shop in Mattoon, and then worked out of her home while in Charleston. Vi later worked several years at Eastern Illinois University in food services, which she greatly enjoyed. While in Westfield she kept the doors open to friends, family and acquaintances encouraging them to stop by for a cup of coffee and a chat. Vi had a great teacher in the kitchen growing up and carried on with many wonderful meals that were shared with family and friends.
