Viola N. Waggle's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Viola Nell Waggle, age 88 of Charleston, entered her Heavenly Home on Thursday, November 22, 2018 while at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Charleston. Viola, affectionately known as "Toots" by her family, and her twin sister Iola were born September 2, 1930 to the late Ed and Sylvia (Enlow) Braden. From her marriage to Harry Waggle are four children who are left to cherish her memory, Patty Keck and husband Dave of Neoga, Illinois, Ed Waggle and wife Martha of Mattoon, Illinois, Cindy Apple and husband Travis of Phoenix, Arizona and Paula Snider and husband Kevin of Lerna, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her twin sister, Iola Garner of Charleston, a sister, Sylvia (Gene) Montgomery of Charleston; a brother, Bob Braden of Carmi, Illinois; and a large extended family consisting of numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jake Braden, Carl Cohoon and Walter Braden; and two sisters, Jo Cougill and Freda Warren.Before her marriage Viola was employed as a telephone operator, but most of her life was dedicated to caring for her family as a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She later accepted a position at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in the housekeeping department. For many years she attended and was a member of Providence Separate Baptist Church and was currently a member of Zoar Primitive Baptist Church. She also was a former member and participated in the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary for more than 20 years. Viola enjoyed all sorts of craftwork, especially crocheting and stitching quilts. She was an exceptional seamstress and took great joy in gifting her quilts to her loved ones. Many of her embroidery projects entered at the Coles County Fair were judged to be ribbon winners. Viola was always ready to put her crafting aside for a day of shopping and eating out with family or friends which she always looked forward to. She shared her time with others, volunteering at Cougill Apartments, the Charleston School District and the Sarah Bush Lincoln Guild. It was Viola's family who were the greatest recipients of her love and affection. Her life and activities were centered round a family who loved and cherished her in return. She will be greatly missed but affectionately and lovingly remembered. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 with Elder Ed Waggle officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery located in North Okaw Township near Cooks Mills, Illinois. It is requested that donations in her honor be made to Zoar Primitive Baptist Church or to Lincolnland Hospice. Chris Waggle offered a prayer and Staci Homann and Jordan Sibigtroth read the obituary. Soloist Kassi Waggle sang ""Amazing Grace"" and the congregation joined in singing ""Light at the River"", ""How Beautiful Heaven Must Be"" and ""What A Day That Will Be"". The committal service was held at Zoar Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Ed Waggle officiating and the congregational hymn of ""Victory in Jesus"". Burial followed in Zoar Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Tim Waggle, Chris Waggle, Jon Waggle, Jayson Keck, Matt Ethington and Tyler Sibigtroth. Honorary Pallbearers were Ricky Apple, Ben Apple, Staci Homann, Jordan Sibigtroth, Aiden Ethington and Sarah Apple.
