Vineta L. Springer's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Vineta Lynn Springer, age 64 of the Ashmore - Charleston area and formerly of Robinson, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 while at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 with Pastor Gary Brock officiating. The Committal Service and burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the Hardinville Cemetery located in Crawford County, Illinois. Donations in her honor may be made to the Charleston Food Pantry and left at the visitation/service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.Vineta was born January 3, 1954 in Sullivan, Indiana, the daughter of Vincent and Joy (Wilkins) Brock. She married Jim Springer and they had two daughters who are left to cherish her memory, Jana Fisher and boyfriend Brian Zegarski of Troy, Missouri and Dana Kwarteng and husband Kenneth of Panama City, Florida. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Logan and Kendall Fisher and Justin Kwarteng; a brother, Gary (Jana) Brock of Texas, two nieces, Candi (Ed) Avila and Sarah Brock; and her stepfather, Charles L. Hayes of Charleston. She was preceded by her father, Vincent Brock and mother, Joy Hayes.Vineta was a 1973 graduate of Charleston High School and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. She was employed as an assistant to the Dean in the Records Office at EIU and also cooked and waitressed at the Ranch House Restaurant in Ashmore. She was previously a member of Women of the Moose Charleston Chapter #1175, Ladies of the Elks, Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.Vineta was always doing for others. She shared her culinary skills providing delicious meals or baked goods and her needlework abilities through comforting blankets crocheted with love. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, and was overjoyed when given the opportunity to entertain the residents at Hilltop by singing with the Easters. She loved jazz music, classic country (especially Patsy Cline), 1920 vintage clothing such as flapper dresses and boas, and always a hat to accessorize. Vineta loved her family dearly and her daughters and grandchildren always came first. She will always be remembered for her unselfish attitude and her kindness and caring concern for others.Click to view Family Memorial Video.Funeral ServiceThe funeral service celebrating the life of Vineta Springer was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 with Pastor Gary Brock officiating. Readings were given by granddaughter, Kendall Fisher and daughter Jana Fisher. Vocalist and Guitarist, PAstor Gary Brock sang ""How Great Thou Art"". Recordings of ""Amazing Grace"", ""Awesome God"" and ""Somewhere Over The Rainbow"" were played along with a recording of Vineta singing ""Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home"". Burial followed at the Hardinville Cemetery located in Crawford County, Illinois. Pallbearers were: Brian Zegarski, Logan Fisher, Justin Kwarteng, Kendall Fisher, Kenneth Kwarteng and Gary Brock.
