Vickie Sue Woolever's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Vickie Sue Woolever, age 66, was in the comfort of her Charleston home and in the loving presence of her family, when she entered her Heavenly Home on Monday, February 22, 2016. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the funeral chapel with Pastor Scott Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to Salisbury Church. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Vickie was born April 16, 1949 in Charleston, IL to the late Jesse and Irene (Peterson) Lang. She married her high school sweetheart, Danny Woolever, on April 28, 1967 in Charleston, and they have celebrated 48 years of marriage and friendship. In addition to her husband, Vickie leaves two children; a daughter, Tema Metzler-Howard and husband John, and a son, Chad Woolever, all of Charleston; 3 granddaughters, Vanessa (Austin) Glassman of Jacksonville, NC, Alison Metzler and Natalie Metzler, both of Charleston; 3 brothers, Mike (Genia) Lang, Danny Lang, and Jim (Myra) Lang, all of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ed, Gary and Tony Lang; and a sister, Betty Davis. Vickie was a 1967 graduate of Charleston High School and a long-time employee of the General Electric Plant in Mattoon. Following her retirement from GE she accepted a position with the Charleston School District in the area of food services. Vickie enjoyed adding to her Cherished Teddies bear collection and exercising at Curves, her favorite fitness center. She valued her many friendships and looked forward to a day of shopping or a meal shared at a favorite restaurant. She was lovingly devoted to family and Sundays were her "family day" . It was a time reserved solely for her family and she would prepare a delicious Sunday dinner in anticipation of spending the day together. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose first priority was to those near and dear to her heart. Many benefited from her kind and gentle spirit.
