Travis L. Ennis' Obituary
Travis L. Ennis, age 50, of Charleston, IL went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was born October 18, 1973 in Charleston, IL, the son of Dwight O. and Leeila S. (Felkamp) Ennis. He married Rebecca S. Whitehead on October 19, 1996 in Windsor, IL.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Becky of Charleston, IL; children, Eli Daniel Ennis (Emma M.) of Ashmore, IL, Emily Danielle Ennis (Rueger T. Walters) of Charleston, IL, Elisha Danelle Ennis of Charleston, IL, Ethan Daniel Ennis (Lilly R. Zerbst) of Charleston, IL, and Eleah Danae Ennis of Charleston, IL; parents, Dwight and Leeila Ennis of Westfield, IL; father-in-law, Randy Whitehead of Mulberry Grove, IL; brother, Eric Ennis (Donna) of Ft. Myers, FL; sister, Julie Goodwin (Mike) of Marshall, IL; sister-in-law, Michell Nicolaides (Josh) of Vandalia, IL; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Travis was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, infant son Jacob Ennis, mother-in-law Lois Whitehead, two aunts, and three uncles.
Travis graduated from Casey-Westfield High School in 1991. He earned a Bachelor's in Chemistry from Eastern Illinois University in 1995. He worked as a chemist and soil tester at KSI in Shelbyville, IL.
Travis was a faithful member of East Harrison Church of God in Charleston, IL. Travis was a passionate trumpet player in both high school and at Eastern Illinois University (EIU), where he was also a member of the Barbershoppers and show choir. Travis cherished spending time with his children, particularly watching cooking shows together. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, and anything related to plants. He also liked making candy, jellies, and maple syrup. He was a strong supporter of the Charleston Schools Music Program, reflecting his enduring love for music. Travis's generosity extended beyond his family and community, as he donated many units of blood and platelets to Impact Life in Urbana, IL, unaware that he would later rely on such donations himself during his battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eddie Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Cochran's Grove Cemetery in Windsor, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920
