CHARLESTON, IL - Thomas Kenneth Noble, age 65 of Charleston, passed away at his home while in the comforting presence of his loving wife Bessie and his sister-in-law Sharron, on Saturday, May 11, 2013. In accordance with his wishes, his earthly body was cremated and a Memorial Celebration honoring his life will be held from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Charleston VFW located at 1821 20th Street. The Memorial Service, officiated by Reverend Dr. Cyprus Hughes, will begin at 12:30 and Military Rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592. Following the Service a time of fellowship will be enjoyed until 3:30 p.m. It is requested that thoughtful donations be made to the Carle Hospital Guest House. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Tom was born on December 28, 1947 in Charleston and was a son of the late Richard V. and Kathryn B. (Shrader) Noble. He married Bessie Rose Davis on February 5, 2013. His survivors include his loving and devoted wife Bessie of Charleston; a brother, Terrell Noble and wife Rosalee of Charleston; a sister, Donna Coffey and husband Don of Longmont, Colorado; two nephews, Rick Noble and wife Connie of Farmer City, Illinois and Tim Noble of Charleston; three stepsons, Antwain Davis of Chicago, Justin Davis and Billy Davis, both of Charleston; two granddaughters, Breanna Davis of Chicago and Lily Lane of Mattoon; a goddaughter, Darla Lane and husband Eric of Mattoon; his mother-in-law, Mary M. Davis of Country Club Hills, Illinois; an uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Alice Shrader and Clyde and Mary Noble. Tom was a member of the Charleston High School Class of 1966 and played on the CHS Trojan football team. He was a United States Navy Veteran and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He furthered his education at Eastern Illinois University and in 1976 received his Bachelors Degree in Recreation. During the years he lived in California, Tom was Coordinator of Transportation for Senior Opportunities and Service; Director of Sr. Transportation in Orange County and assisted with other transportation groups. He also operated an ambulance service. After returning to Charleston he was employed at ACE Hardware, County Market and was a driver for H & H and the EIU transportation services. Tom attended worship at the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Mattoon with Bessie. He was adventuresome by nature and enjoyed such activities such as sailing, skydiving and playing pool. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan. Tom had a generous heart and a caring soul and was happiest when he was helping others. He enjoyed being with people and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed but fondly and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
