Theresa P. ""Brownie"" Moffett's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Theresa P. ""Brownie"" Moffett, age 84 of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at her Hilltop Convalescent Center home. Memorial Services honoring and celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. next Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Visitation will be held from Noon until Service time. It is requested that memorial gifts in her honor be made to Coles County Habitat for Humanity. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.Brownie was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 17, 1926 one of thirteen children born to the late George Albert and Anna Rose (Barna) Kapulka. She married a young Marine, Richard R. Moffett on November 21, 1945 in Massachusetts and they had two sons. She is survived by a son, Paul Raymond Moffett and wife Jennifer of Florissant, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Sarah Moffett of St. Louis, Neal Allen Moffett of Florissant, Jeremy Moffett and Tina Marie Moffett-Reid, both of Charleston, Brian Moffett and Jamie Moffett, both of Mattoon, David Moffett of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her twelve siblings, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Moffett.Brownie was employed by Moore Business Forms in Charleston for twenty-three years and was a member of the Women of the Elks Charleston Lodge BPOE #623. When living in their country home north of Charleston she spent time caring for her flower gardens and tending to her vegetable garden in preparation for canning its bountiful produce. She was an adept seamstress, a marvelous cook and enjoyed traveling. Shopping was always on her agenda and she not only enjoyed adding to her wardrobe but also to her collection of Waterford and Swarovski crystal. Brownie was a woman who possessed a strong will and a straightforward approach to life but also showed tremendous compassion for those less fortunate than herself.
