Terry was born on January 3, 1944 in Tuscola, IL a son of the late Eugene Austin and Ruby Helen (Swisher) Davis. He married the love of his life, Karon Warman on June 15, 1962 in Charleston and they have celebrated and shared 51 years of marriage and friendship. In addition to Karon, Terry is survived by two devoted and loving children, Tracy Green and husband Keith of O'Fallon, Missouri and Mark Davis and wife Stacey of St. Cloud, Florida; five grandchildren, Levi Davis, Seth Green, Marissa Green, Jeremy Currie and Bethany Currie; two brothers, Joe (Peg) Davis of Mahomet, IL and Artie Davis of French Settlement, LA; a brother-in-law, Jerry Montgomery of Taswell, IN; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who were near and dear to him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Montgomery. Terry was a valued employee of Charleston Farrier Construction for 45 years and was co-owner along with son, Mark, of MD & Son, a properties management company. Following retirement Terry still found that he enjoyed working and began mowing for Richey's Furniture Store in Ashmore. He had a tremendous work ethic which embodied a sense of honesty and integrity - a work ethic he has imparted to his children as well. Terry loved the community of Ashmore - it is where he lived, where he worshipped, where he and Karon raised their family and where he shared many dear friendships. Terry was a faithful and active member of the Ashmore Baptist Church, currently serving as a trustee and was a former church treasurer. He served his fellow residents for 19 years as a volunteer for the Ashmore Fire Department, served on the Ashmore Village Board of Trustees for 22 years and was a member of the Ashmore Community Club. Terry possessed a servant's heart and a passion for helping others both near and far. He was always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need and answered a calling to serve others outside his community with the Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief program where he was a Chainsaw Blue Hat Leader. You could always count on Terry to ""step up to the plate"" whenever there was a need to be met. Terry enjoyed the outdoors and the many camping trips with family and friends. His sense of humor made him a joy to be around even if you were the target of one of his creative practical jokes. His family meant the world to him. He enjoyed sharing day-to-day life with Karon and there was always a sense of endearing love and pride when he spoke of his children or grandchildren. He believed in leading by example, was never one to complain, and provided his children and grandchildren with a wonderful role-model whose actions spoke volumes. Terry was respected by his fellow community members, by his co-workers and by his many friends. He was a pillar in his community, the patriarch of his family, and all who knew him - loved him. His presence will be missed but his memories will radiate the kindness, generosity and Christian love which guided his life.Click to view Terry's memorial video.
