Susan was born September 7, 1935 in Rockville, IN to the late Charles and Isabelle (Nichols) Decker. She married Charles Louis Wright on December 17, 1982 and they celebrated nearly 17 years of marriage prior to his death on December 3, 1999. Left to cherish her memory are seven children, Charles Strange, Debra Brewer and husband Silas, Cheryl Wilson and husband Alvin, Ken Strange and wife Linda, all of Charleston; Karen Johnson and husband Boyd of Sullivan, IL, Laura Oder and husband Joseph and Kristine McCoy and husband Larry, all of Albuquerque, NM; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Addie Hall and husband Stanley of Port Huron, MI; numerous nieces and nephews and her extended family which included Charlie's children and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, a brother, and 3 grandchildren. Susan, affectionately known as Susie to some, was a member of the Women of the Moose, Charleston Chapter #1175. She was a loving and devoted mother, staying at home with her children during their formative years. After her children were grown she entered the work force, first in the housekeeping department of Charleston Memorial Hospital and later in housekeeping at Eastern Illinois University. That same love and devotion carried over in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, and one who dearly cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susan and Charlie made the most of their married years, traveling extensively throughout the United States and especially to her favorite lucky gambling destinations of Vegas and Tunica. They also enjoyed their time (especially winters) in Davenport, Florida and having the grandchildren visit so that she could arrange for memorable trips to the Walt Disney Park. Susan also loved to paint everything - from concrete yard ornaments to ceramic figurines; they all received a coat of paint. Susan will be greatly missed by a family who loved her dearly. They will treasure their many wonderful memories of special times shared.
