Susie, as she was affectionately known, was born July 14, 1948 in Casey, Illinois, a daughter of the late John H. and Deloris (Mowry) Wright. She married John Richardson on November 2, 1968 and they have been blessed with 51 years of marriage and a wonderful family. In addition to John, she is survived by their sons, John "Johnny" Richardson, Jr. and fiancé Jennifer Cox of Windsor, Illinois, Jeremy "Jerry" Richardson and wife Lori of Ashmore, Jeffrey "Bub" Richardson and wife Meredith of Leroy, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Justin, Zack and Zoey Richardson, Gretchen Hellman (Nathan), and Alexis "Lexie" Richardson; two great-grandsons, Briar and Westin Hellman; her sister, Sally Bock and husband Doug of Charleston; a half sister, Bertie Fisher (Mike) of Newton; a half brother, Bob Shawver; and two nephews, Matt and Mike Dolson. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Lee Wright and Richard Wright; and two half sisters Marjorie Chism and Carlene Livingston.
Susie was a 1966 graduate of Charleston High School and attended Utterback's School of Business then located in Mattoon. She was primarily a homemaker for her family but also was a daycare provider and a mom to many. Susie was a woman of great faith and was formerly a member of Ashmore Presbyterian Church where she was actively involved as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, and assisted in the church office. She was currently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. For many years she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star - Ashmore Chapter and was a past worthy matron.
Susie had a variety of interests. She was often sporting a camera as the family photographer so that she could get that special photo to add to her scrapbooking projects for children and grandchildren; searching for the next Fairy Garden item or gnome; adding to her bear or Precious Moments collections; sewing or working on a needlework creation. Susie was blessed with a heart to volunteer and through the years not only the organizations in which she held membership were the recipients of her time and talents, but she also was a Cub Scout Den Mother and active participant of the Ashmore PTA.
Susie was totally devoted to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, always placing others needs before her own. She enjoyed decorating the family home for each and every holiday with Christmas being her favorite. With the holidays, came family dinners which she lovingly prepared and family gatherings which she looked forward to hosting. Susie's children and grandchildren always knew they could count on her support - whatever activity they were a part of, she would be in attendance as their biggest fan. Susie and John had the opportunity to enjoy traveling with Gatlinburg being among their favorite destinations and their trip to South Dakota and the Black Hills being among their most memorable. Susie blessed her family with a love that was strong and steadfast and an abundance of wonderful memories to cherish.
