Steve N. Scott's Obituary
WESTFIELD, IL - Steve Nolan Scott, age 66 of Westfield and formerly of Charleston, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 in the comfort of his home following a courageous battle with ALS. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The family encourages those attending to wear their favorite Harley attire. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the funeral chapel with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the Greenup VFW Post 4598 will follow in Liberty Cemetery located southeast of Charleston in Hutton Township. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Steve was born January 2, 1949 in Charleston, IL the only child of the late Nolan and Marian (Lang) Scott. On December 18, 1994 he married Gloria Stephen in Edgar County, IL and for these past 21 years they have been the best of friends and motorcycle riding companions. In addition to Gloria he is survived by a stepson, Michael Lowery and a granddaughter, Bobbi Lowery, both of Kansas, IL. Steve was a 1967 graduate of Charleston High School. He honorably and faithfully served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Steve was a 25 year employee of Blaw-Knox in Mattoon and was employed with the building services department at Eastern Illinois University for 10 years. He attended the First Christian Church in Martinsville, IL and was a life member of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592, the Toledo American Legion and the AMVETS. He was also a member of H.O.G. and a former member of the ABATE Motorcycle Group. Steve was such a jokester and a prankster making it always enjoyable to be in his presence. His love for animals was evident especially by the many pets he always cared for. He shared a close relationship with his granddaughter Bobbi, whom he adored since the day she was born. Steve shared with many a lifelong love for riding motorcycles and was definitely the happiest when cycling down the highway on his Harley with friends or family. He brought much joy to the lives of everyone that knew and loved him and he will truly be missed.
