Sherri Deanne Padgitt's Obituary
Sherri Deanne Padgitt, age 61, of Charleston, Illinois, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, Illinois.
Sherri was born on October 30, 1964, to Thomas and Deanna (Stephens) Clark in Charleston, Illinois. On October 8, 2003, she married the love of her life, John David Padgitt, in Niagara Falls, New York. Together, they shared a devoted and enduring partnership built on love, companionship, and unwavering support.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, John Padgitt of Charleston, Illinois; her two sons, Michael Smock of Mattoon, Illinois, and Brenden Warfel of Rossville, Illinois; her cherished grandchildren, Millie and Malia, who brought her immense joy; and her beloved cats, Ozzie and Dexter. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Sherri was a graduate of Casey-Westfield High School and continued her education at Lake Land College, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing. She worked for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse in several area nursing homes. Known for her compassion and gentle spirit, Sherri took great pride in caring for others and touched the lives of many patients and coworkers through her dedication and kindness.
In her free time, Sherri enjoyed diamond and glass art and found creative expression in making costume jewelry. These hobbies reflected her patience, creativity, and eye for beauty, qualities that also shone through in her everyday life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., with a Nurse Honor Guard Service beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, Illinois.
Memorial donations may be made in Sherri’s honor to the Coles County Animal Shelter, 6818 N. County Road 1120 E., Charleston, Illinois 61920.
