Sharon Lee Harpster's Obituary
Just one day after losing the love of her life for 64 years, Sharon Lee Harpster, age 82, of Charleston, IL, was unexpectedly taken on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL. She was born on December 11, 1942, to Jack and Irma (Cox) Daily in Charleston, IL. On July 2, 1960, she married Lawrence "Larry" Harpster at First Christian Church in Charleston. Larry preceded her in death on May 1, 2025.
She is survived by her four children, Randy (Karen) Harpster of Charleston, IL, Laura (Garth) Harpster Henderson of Rapid City, SD, Lisa (Dave) Harpster Grovier of Charleston, IL, and Greg Harpster of Charleston, IL; three grandchildren, Hannah Harpster of Charleston, IL, Cherilyn Henderson of Rapid City, SD, and Michael Grovier of Urbana, IL; and one great-grandchild, Dezmond Henderson of Rapid City, SD. In addition to her husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.
A graduate of Charleston High School, Sharon was a proud majorette in the school band. She worked for Moore's Business Forms for 10 years before joining her husband in operating Harpster's Coles County Gas Company, where she served as secretary until their retirement in 2009 after 26 years in business.
Sharon enjoyed cooking, garage sales, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a successful Shaklee distributor, earning several vehicles and trips through her efforts.
A joint Celebration of Life for Sharon and Larry will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm with Pastor Tim Laymon officiating at East Harrison Street Church of God, 17996 Harrison St. Road, Charleston, IL 61920.
