Ruth W. McIntyre's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Ruth Wynemiah McIntyre, age 98 of Charleston, passed away peacefully in her home at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011. Services in honor and celebration of her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (October 30) at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastor Wayne Carrigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Enon Cemetery located in Ashmore Township. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday for those wishing to pay their respects to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her honor may be made to the Enon Baptist Church. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Ruth was born on July 31, 1913 in Coles County, Illinois, a daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (Curtis) Stone. She married Richard (Dick) C. McIntyre on December 31, 1935 and they enjoyed seventy-four years of marriage prior to his death on February 22, 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Stevens-Hoeltzner of Ft. Collins, Colorado; her grandson, Troy Stevens and his wife Shelby of Spanish Fort, Alabama; and two great-grandsons, Trevor and Reece Stevens. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Stone. Ruth was a dedicated housewife, mother and grandmother. She was also an accomplished pianist. She traveled regularly with her late husband, visiting Hawaii, Canada, Europe and the western, northeastern and southern United States. Ruth led an extremely active lifestyle which included walks with Dick. She walked twice daily for more than thirty years, trekking more than 25,000 miles - enough to circle the earth. Even in her late 90's Ruth adhered to a daily exercise schedule. She enjoyed playing sports with her family throughout her life including baseball, basketball and even cycling; she actively supported all of her family's many sporting events. Ruth was a woman of steadfast faith and a long-standing member of the Enon Baptist Church.
