Rovene Hayward's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Rovene Hayward, age 85 of Charleston, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 24, 2016 while at her Life's Journey residence in Mattoon. Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 2800 University Drive in Charleston with Pastors Pat Murphy and Chris Prater officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services, or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Charlotte Rovene Hayward was born April 1, 1931 in Ashton, Missouri, the daughter of Everett T. and Zelna (Moore) Diehl. She married John Hayward on March 15, 1969 at the First Baptist Church in Charleston and they have shared 47 years of marriage. In addition to John, she is survived by her daughters, Debbie McNamer and husband Mike and Cathy Frazier, all of Charleston; 5 grandchildren, Tom (Karen) Frazier and Beth (Kevin) Wood, all of Lerna, IL, Sonya (Kevin) Johnson of Decatur, IL, Steve (Amanda) McNamer of Collinsville, IL and Scott (Laura) McNamer of O'Fallon, MO; 6 great-grandchildren, Chase McGuire, Whitley and McKinley Wood, and Lucas, Addison and Olivia McNamer; a stepdaughter, Kathy (Tom) Mills of St. Elmo, IL; 4 step-grandchildren and their families; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Carol Dilley; and a brother, Everett Diehl. Rovene was a 1949 graduate of Charleston High School and attended Eastern Illinois University for two years. For nearly 30 years she was a dedicated employee of Moore Business Forms in Charleston. Rovene was a woman of faith and since 1949 has been a devoted and faithful member of the First Baptist Church family in Charleston. She has witnessed and imparted her faith with others as a Vacation Bible School and Sunday School teacher, through her participation in a Wednesday morning prayer group, as a church deaconess, by serving on the Board of Christian Education, as Sunday School Superintendent, and mostly by example. Rovene's kind and loving attitude toward others was a reflection of her Christian values.
