Rosanne Bryce Sanders' Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Rosanne Bryce Sanders, age 92 of Charleston, joined her heavenly family while at her Brookstone Estates of Charleston residence, on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 921 Madison Avenue in Charleston. The Rosary Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Titus presiding. Services will conclude with burial in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or to Lincolnland Hospice. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or funeral mass, or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Rosanne was born on December 24, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of nine children born to the late Charles and Irene (Brennan) Bryce. She married Donald W. Sanders on November 20, 1976 in Charleston and shared 35 years of marriage prior to his death on December 7, 2011. She is survived by two sisters, Rita Burns of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Phyllis Brandt of Dallas, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; two stepchildren, Drusilla Brandon and husband Anthony of Danville, Illinois and Durwin Sanders and wife Marge of Mattoon; 15 step-grandchildren; 29 step-great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-great-grandchildren; and her extended church and Brookstone families. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Bryce, Dr. John Bryce, Walter Bryce and Father Phillip Bryce; two sisters, Margaret Edwards and Sister Mary Charles Bryce, OSB; 3 step-daughters, Doris Lloyd, Donna Rebelsky and Diane Brooks; and 2 step-grandchildren. Dr. Sanders earned her Ph.D from Colorado State University and was employed by Eastern Illinois University, where she taught Business Education and was Supervisor of Student Teachers from 1969 until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the EIU Annuitants Association. Rosanne was a faithful and devout member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston and was extremely involved in various aspects of church service. Rosanne was extremely witty and possessed a keen sense of humor. She loved her family and she and Don were devoted to one another and enjoyed life together. She was a gracious lady who was well-respected by her colleagues and friends.
