Robert ""Bob"" J. Kellner, Sr.'s Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Robert Joseph Kellner, Sr., age 73 of Charleston and formerly of Mattoon and the Cleveland, Ohio areas, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 in the comfort of his home and in the loving presence of his family. The Memorial Service honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastor Sharon Patton officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held for one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter or to Lincolnland Hospice. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Bob was born on October 12, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late George and Frances (McHugh) Kellner. He married Sharon (Keigley) Pedigo on July 4, 1987 and they have shared these past 26 years of marriage and friendship. In addition to his loving wife Sharon, he is survived by three children, Dr. Eileen Kellner and husband Martin Silvestri of Naples, Idaho, Robert Kellner, Jr. of Cleveland and Sharon Marie Kellner and Mike of Park City, Utah; a stepdaughter, Kindra Ard and husband Duane of Charleston; two grandchildren, Madalyn Schoonover and Jacob Ard, both of Charleston; 4 brothers and a sister, James Kellner and wife Kathy of Reno Nevada, Ed Kellner and wife Mary, Don Kellner, George Kellner and wife Cathy and Kay Warfield, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Kellner.Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was employed by General Electric as an Engineer for 42 years and was at the Mattoon plant from 1987 until his retirement in 2001. Bob loved the water, boating and skiing. Many good times were shared by family and friends aboard the ""Dolphin Bay"" on Lake Shelbyville where Bob and Sharon loved to entertain. Bob was a marvelous cook and a true ""grill master"" - barbecue ribs were his specialty. He also enjoyed snow skiing, golfing and was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye fan.
