Richard Scott's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Richard M. Scott, age 83 of Charleston, IL passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Graveside Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Mound Cemetery in Charleston with Reverend Dr. Thomas Hawkins and Reverend Jan Hawkins officiating. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston or to Palm Terrace of Mattoon. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Richard was born on June 8, 1931 in Chicago, a son of the late George W. and Margaret (Spear) Scott. He married Elizabeth Sue Morrison on April 13, 1957 in Hinsdale, IL and they have shared a marriage and friendship these past 58 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter W. Scott. Dick was a graduate of LaGrange Jr. College and received a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University. He served as a lab tech for 6 years at Argonne National Laboratory when nuclear energy was in its infancy. Following his graduation from EIU, Dick worked at Moore Business Forms and the Calderwood Corporation before ill health forced early retirement. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. Dick was blessed with an ear for music and a good singing voice as well. He enjoyed listening to music, especially instrumental organ selections and those from the classical music genre. His wonderful baritone voice was often heard as a member of a church choir or a Barbershop chorus. Being somewhat of a private individual, Dick enjoyed being at home, working jigsaw puzzles or being in the company of the family pets, especially his dog, Emily.
