Paul T. Heckel's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Paul Thomas Heckel, age 39 of Charleston, died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his residence. Paul's family invites you to join them for a time of remembering and sharing at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Paul was born February 28, 1976 in Charleston, IL. Paul would brag that he was one of the last born at the old hospital. Paul is the son of David and Judith Heckel. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1994 and worked in various businesses in Charleston. He most recently was the noontime cook at Roc's Black Front Restaurant, and was well known for his Meatloaf Special. Paul loved kayaking, disc golf, bicycle and unicycle riding, and also was an accomplished juggler. There is not a board or card game at which Paul did not excel, especially Pigs. Paul loved music and attended many concerts and enjoyed his music collection. Paul had a unique and witty sense of humor and easily amused friends with stories and anecdotes. He is survived by his parents; sister Karen (Cashman) Hammond and three nephews, Gage, Axel, and Oliver Hammond, all of Grandview, IL; his son, Arlo Davis and his mother Nicole of Charleston, IL; uncle Greg Gorlewski of Elmwood Park, IL; and aunt and uncle Jayne and Dennis Pedersen of Henderson, NV. Paul was preceded in death by his four loving grandparents. Paul will be greatly missed by his family and all of his dear friends. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in his honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
