Patrick Grant's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Patrick Grant, age 56 of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and formerly of Charleston, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 while a patient at Rainbow Hospice Ark in Park Ridge, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Graveside Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International. Gifts may be left during the visitation or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Pat was born on December 30, 1958 in Charleston, a son of William and Winola (Thomas) Grant. He is survived by his mother, Winola Grant of Charleston; two children, a daughter Haley Grant of Brooklyn, NY and a son, Trevor Grant of Chicago, IL; the mother of his children and friend, Sally Hamlin and her son Matthew Hamlin; two sisters, Margaret Grant of St. Louis, MO and Ellen Holt and husband T.J. of Houston, TX; two brothers, Danny Grant and Mark Grant, both of Charleston; six nieces, Jacqui, Michelle, Kellie, Hannah, Ashley and Samantha who is also his godchild; and numerous extended family members. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Grant. Pat was a 1977 graduate of Charleston High School. He furthered his education at the University of Illinois where he attained his Bachelors Degree in 1981, and in 1999 graduated from its MBA program. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and of its Alumni Association and was a member of the University of Illinois Livestock Judging Team earning top honors and a trip to national competition. Pat enjoyed music and playing golf but was most passionate about his work, his church, and his family. He was quite the entrepreneur and was currently Chairman of Our Health Data Cooperative in Florida. He was a man who lived his faith and was very involved with the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International Church in Ft. Lauderdale. Pat's greatest joys in life came from being a devoted father to Haley and Trevor. They, along with the rest of his family and many friends will truly miss this special man who touched their hearts in such positive and loving ways.
