Pamela Overton's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Pamela Jane Overton died on February 16, 2022, at 1:39 AM at Villas of Holly Brook in Charleston, IL.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM with a rosary service following. Burial will be at a later date at Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston, IL. Adams Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Pam was born July 21, 1929, the daughter of John Driscoll and Ethel (Wasson) Driscoll. She married Lyle M. Overton, of Mattoon, IL on June 15, 1947.
Survivors include four daughters, Jacqueline Derr (husband Robert of Asheboro, NC), Mary Wadland (husband, Malcolm, deceased of Wheaton, IL), Teresa Fillman (husband, William of Alpharetta, GA), Julia Healy (husband, Kelly of Coudersport, PA); five grandsons: Bryan Derr (wife, Megan of Summerfield, NC), Matthew Wadland (partner Jeffrey of Riverside, IL), Michael Wadland (wife, Jennifer of Brookfield, IL), Jonathan Fillman (wife, Stephanie of Glenwood, Springs, CO), Adam Fillman (wife, Sarah of Colorado Springs, CO); three granddaughters: Sarah Hill (husband, Collin of Raleigh, NC), Elizabeth Rush (husband, Charles of Summit, NJ), and Emily Taylor (husband, Mason of Hutto, TX); eleven great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and one son-in-law.
Pam Overton lived most of her life in Coles County. She was graduated with honors from Eastern Illinois University. She and her husband had a successful business, Imperial Homes, Inc. She was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, St. Cecilia's Circle, The Catholic Women, The Charleston Country Club, and an original member of the Coles County Master Gardeners, the Mattoon Area Art Club, and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed her family, friends, and traveling. She also enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, gardening, painting, cooking, and sewing.
She will be missed by her family and her many friends.
Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or the Charleston Public Library and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.
