Norman Albert John Mullins' Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Norman Albert John Mullins, age 87 of Charleston, entered into a better place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 while at Palm Terrace of Mattoon. Inurnment and a Graveside Memorial Service honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston with Pastor Ken Hoover officiating. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the Alzheimers Research Foundation. Gifts may be mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Norman was born July 3, 1929 in Bourbon, Illinois, one of twelve children born to Russell and Wilhemina (Tesseman) Mullins. He is survived by a brother, Rex Mullins and wife Paula of Mattoon, Illinois; two sisters, Betty Centers and Linda Hampton, both of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wanda Snoddy and Florence Cooley; and six brothers, Dale, Gene, Don, Jim, Kenneth and Richard Mullins. Norman was a graduate of Charleston High School and honorably served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed with USI in Tuscola for 36 years as an electrician. Norman was raised and baptized in the Lutheran faith. Fishing and hunting were among his hobbies but he excelled as a bowler. He was recognized as a champion bowler, who bowled on numerous leagues and was the owner of many perfect 300 games. He also had a fondness for traveling and was a master gardener who was known for his tomatoes which he enjoyed sharing with friends and family. Norman was extremely meticulous when it came to his cars and they always looked their best. Norman possessed an easy going character and was friendly and kind to everyone he met. He will truly be missed but will always be lovingly and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
