Norman B. Lockwood's Obituary
NEOGA, IL - Norman B. Lockwood, age 80 of Neoga, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 9, 2016 while at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Ron Rhodus officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashmore Cemetery in Ashmore, IL. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to his family in care of Ann Lockwood to assist with final expenses. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services, or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Norman was born May 15, 1936 in St. Louis, MO to the late Clifford and Lorene (Hilton) Lockwood. He married E. Louise Wills on December 6, 1959 in Waggoner, IL and they shared 40 years of marriage prior to her death on March 30, 2000. For the past 13 years he has shared his life with Ann (Foster) Maynard whom he married on November 9, 2002 in South Roxana, IL. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ann of Neoga, IL; 4 children, Gene (Ellen) Lockwood of Sarasota, FL, Greg (Beth) Lockwood of Indianapolis, IN, Pat (Mark) Carpenter of Danville, IL and Pam (Ron) Tuel of Oblong, IL; 4 step-children, Rodger (Diane) Maynard and Steven Maynard, all of Troy, MO, Michael Maynard of Cottage Hills, IL and Laura Moore of Alton, IL; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Lockwood, Paige Carpenter, Kristine Tuel, Jacob (Laura) Carpenter, Brittany Tuel, Kimbra (Grant) Lough, Megan (Alex) Duncan, and Ashlei Tuel; 7 step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Phillip) May, Amanda (Ronnie) Morris, Dominic Maynard, Ryan (Dara) Schrock, Jeremy (Tiffany) Schrock, Kim Schrock and Katelyn (Sam) Binion; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Maurice, Clifford, Jr. and Cedric Lockwood. Norman was a 1956 graduate of Pana High School and received a Masters of Divinity Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. His love for the Lord and his desire to share the Gospel with others led him to pastor several Baptist Churches and to become the Director of Missions for the Westfield Baptist Association from 1994 - 2015. Norman also served on the Illinois Baptist State Association (IBSA) Time and Place Committee and was currently a member of the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church in Neoga, IL. Norman had a love for people and a heart for sharing his faith at every opportunity. He dearly loved his family and was especially devoted to his grandchildren. He enjoyed adding to his collection of eagles, was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinal baseball, Illini basketball and Chicago Bears football; and was extremely fond of his and Ann's dog, Candy.
