She married William J. Sunderman on January 5, 1945 and they shared 44 years of marriage prior to his death on April 19, 1989. She is survived by two sons, William A. Sunderman (Judith) of Charleston and James M. Sunderman of Centralia, Illinois; two daughters, Amanda J. Sunderman Bell (Steven) of Champaign and Monica J. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Robbie Sunderman. Mrs. Sunderman was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston and was extremely community minded. She served on the Charleston Carnegie Public Library Board for 30 years and was its President. The Sunderman's, along with others, were charter members of the Coles County Association for the Retarded, and CCAR Industries. Norma enjoyed painting, landscaping and cooking giant feasts for her family. She kept her positive attitude and sense of humor until the end of her life - this was a necessity as she was an avid Cubs fan.
