Norma W. Stanford's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Norma W. Stanford, age 89 of rural Charleston, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Southards officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday morning for one hour prior to the Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to First Christian Church. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Norma was born July 22, 1923 in Fairgrange, IL one of three girls born to the late Chalmer and Lena (Ritchey) McClure. She married William W. Stanford in 1940 and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1998. She is survived by a sister, Janice Boyd and husband Jack of Fairgrange; three nephews, Jerry Boyd and wife Melissa of Charleston, Jeff Boyd of Jacksonville, FL and Michael Madlem of Charleston; a niece, Melody Madlem of Washington; 3 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Florence Oakley and husband Don of Charleston. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William David Stanford; a sister, Katherine Madlem; and a niece Rebecca Sandefer.Norma was a member of First Christian Church in Charleston and she, along with husband Bill, were long time farmers in Morgan Township and the surrounding area.
