Norma Jean Allison was born on November 10, 1931 in Pleasant Grove Township located in Coles County, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Leland Thomas and Rosetta (Hays) Allison. Her mother was a schoolteacher and her father farmed the land homesteaded by his great-grandfather. She grew up on the family farm along with her three brothers, Robert, Max and John. She attended school in Charleston where she met her husband-to-be, Edward Kohlmann. Ed was a college student in Charleston when they married and Norma worked as a secretary to put Ed through seminary. Ed followed his calling which led him to several churches in Illinois, Indiana, and finally to the United Church of Christ in Fort Myers, Florida. Along the way Norma earned a master's degree from the University of Illinois and became an elementary school teacher, specializing in reading and special education. While in Florida, Norma also attained her realtor's license and practiced in Fort Myers and Cape Coral. She and Ed shared a love for flying and they both became pilots and enjoyed the thrill of flying their own plane. They also enjoyed traveling overseas with groups from their church. Norma was an active member of the FA Chapter of P.E.O. in Fort Myers. After Ed's death in 1997, Norma met Billy Seaman, a brother of a close friend, and they were married in 2003. She and Bill loved spending their summers in Holland, Michigan and wintering in Fort Myers. Norma was widowed for a second time in 2007. She is survived by a brother, Max Lee Allison of Charleston; two sons, Victor Louis Kohlmann of Avon Park, Florida and Thomas John Kohlmann of Longmont, Colorado; and a grandson, Jason Christopher Kohlmann of Champaign, Illinois.
