Nancy Lucile Clark's Obituary
Nancy Lucile Clark, age 89, of Neoga, IL (formerly of Charleston, IL), passed away on
Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, IL. Born on July 18, 1935, in Fairmont, MN, she was the beloved daughter of Hugh and Gladys (Fitzpatrick) Mcllwain. On May 9, 1954, Nancy married the love of her life, George R. Clark, and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and countless cherished memories. George preceded her in death on February 26, 2018.
She is survived by two children, Kevin E. (Kathy) Clark of Charleston, IL and Kim (Dave) Yarnell of Cowden, IL; grandchildren, Kristen (Isaac Aldrich) Clark, Bryan (Chelsea) Clark, Jill (Megan) Clark, Jared (Jaime) McClain, Morgan (Mitch) White, Emily (Andy) Hardiek, and Hannah Yarnell; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Kay Mcllwain.
Nancy was raised in Charleston, where she graduated and went on to work as a secretary for the Shuey & Plunkett law office. Both she and husband George were long standing business owners in Charleston ranging from Frommel's Hardware Store to Clark's Frame Shoppe until retirement in the mid-90s. Upon retiring, George and Nancy lived at Lake Mattoon, while also enjoying winters in Florida making many new and long-standing friends.
Family was the heart of Nancy's world. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, a gaggle of great grandchildren, she was always in her element. Her independence, quick wit, and great tenacity were evident to all who knew her. She remained active and engaged in life until her final days, a testament to her resilient spirit.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joy Starwalt officiating. Burial will take place following the services in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, IL.
