Mildred L. Wright's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Mildred L. Wright, age 84 of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at her home. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the funeral chapel with Pastor Tom Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashmore Cemetery. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to a charity of the donor's preference. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services, or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Mildred was born May 13, 1932 north of Rardin in Coles County, IL, a daughter of the late John O. and Mary (Pedigo) Melton. She married Gary Dean Wright, Sr. on May 14, 1950 in Charleston and they celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to his death on May 31, 2004. Left to cherish her memory is her son, G. Dean Wright, Jr. and wife Ginger of Charleston; two grandchildren, Gary Dean "Trey" Wright, III and wife Holly K. of Charleston and Holly Ann Janssen and husband Aaron of Casey, IL; 8 great-grandchildren, Willy Wright, Justin Wright, Triesten Wright, Taylor Ann Navel and fiancé Holton Sandiford, Eric Lee Navel, Cory Joe Navel, Autumn L. Janssen and boyfriend Garrett Stephens, and Dalton Janssen; two great-granddaughters, Emry Janssen and Eva Stephens; a brother, John Melton and a sister, Joan Daniels, both of Charleston; a brother-in-law, Dr. G.D. Wright and wife Anne of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Mildred was also predeceased by two sisters, Alice Hayes and Shirley Cline; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Melton. Mildred was employed by the Charleston Brown Shoe Company before accepting a position in the guidance counselor office at the Charleston High School. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Charleston Chapter 1175. Mildred loved her home and gardening, especially tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She was an excellent seamstress and was very much interested in family genealogy. She loved her own family dearly and was especially fortunate to have a close relationship with her great-grandchildren as she often kept them while parents were at work. Each will have memories of her reading to them from their favorite storybook. She enjoyed keeping up with her great-grandchildren and their friends and became knowledgeable of, as well as a fan of social media. She was adored and appreciated by her loved ones who will always cherish their many fond memories.Click to view Family Memorial Video.
