Mike was born September 22, 1952 at Camp Cooke (now known as Vandenberg Air Force Base) in Santa Monica, CA. a son of Herbert E. and Eleanor M. (Louthan) Carlyle. His marriage to Barbara Joy (Haskett) Marquis blessed him with a daughter, Natasha (Carlyle) DeHart. He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter, Natasha and her husband Ryan of Lewisville, TX; 3 grandchildren whom he adored, Torsten (age 4), Dane (age 2) and Mila (age 1); his parents, Herbert and Eleanor Carlyle of Naples, FL; 4 siblings, Lynn (Carlyle) Reed and husband Thad, JoEllen (Carlyle) Dryden and husband Tom, Kent Carlyle and wife Lauren, Christina (Carlyle) Barreno and husband Oscar; and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alan and Louise Carlyle and Fred and Lilian Louthan. Mike was a member of the 1971 graduating class of Charleston High School participating in basketball, baseball, track and cross country sports. He furthered his education at Lake Land College and as a member of the tennis team received the honor of being named to the Who's Who in Junior College Tennis. Attaining an Associate's Degree in Business prepared Mike for his role as partner in the family business of owning and operating Carlyle Apartments in Charleston. Mike was a Mason as well as an avid horseman. He rode cutting horses competitively and was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA). Mike lived life full-tilt! He valued his many friendships and always took time to meet up with an old friend, lend a helping hand, or travel. Mike dedicated much of his life to building and managing the family business in Charleston, but in recent years maintained an additional residence in Weatherford, Texas to be close to Natasha and her family and to volunteer his time at her distillery in Lewisville. His love for horses, motorcycles, fast cars, airplanes, business/real estate, and the Dallas Cowboys did not compare to the love and devotion he had for his family. He loved his family dearly and shared an especially close relationship with his daughter (Natasha), father (Herb), sister (Lynn) and oldest grandson (Torsten). The countless memories of Mike as a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will be treasured in the hearts of those who loved him most.Click to view Family Memorial Video.
