Melissa Kay Creek's Obituary
Melissa Kay Creek, age 55, of Mattoon, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Melissa was born on February 20, 1969, in Charleston, IL, to James L. Dare Jr. and Melvina Chloann (Graham) Dare. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1987. Shortly after, she married her first husband, and together they began their family. Being a mother was Melissa's greatest joy, and she devoted her life to raising her two sons, Daryl and Mark. Her love for her grandchildren was immense, and her family was the center of her world. She cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, husband, siblings, and extended family.
Later in life, Melissa found her soulmate, Daniel Edward Creek, and they married on October 15, 2022. Her faith was also an important part of her life, and she and her sister led a Bible prayer group that brought her great fulfillment.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Dan E. Creek of Mattoon, IL; her sons, Daryl Ray (Lana) Winnett of Mattoon, IL, and Mark James Winnett of Mattoon, IL; her eight grandchildren, Caleb, Corey, Cayden, Ian, Brynli, Rylan, Jase, and Madden; her mother, Melvina Chloann Dare of Mattoon, IL; her siblings, Christian Peterson of Mattoon, IL, John (Sheri) Dare of Lerna, IL, and Amy (Ken) Nelson of Mattoon, IL; her first husband, Clifton Ray Winnett; and two nephews and five nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, James Luther Dare Jr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, IL. Following the visitation, friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Gathering at House Brothers Patio, located at 2009 Western Ave., Mattoon, IL.
A private inurnment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, IL, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Center, 1000 Health Center Dr., Mattoon, IL 61938.
