Maxine was born January 29, 1922 in Hutton Township, Coles County, IL, a daughter of the late Arlin and Edith (Jenkins) Rennels. She married Robert Frame on December 24, 1941 and they shared 68 years of marriage prior to his death on January 5, 2010. She was also predeceased by her only brother, Arlin Rennels, Jr. who was a B-17 pilot during WWII and a Prisoner of War for 18 months in Germany, and his wife Gerry; a son, Randall Robert Frame who died in 1951 of bulbar polio before the days of the Salk vaccine; a daughter, Lynne Marie Jemsek, who died in 2003; a sister-in-law, Doris Frame White and husband Bob; and her only cousin, Robert Schlenker. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Richard Frame and his wife Elizabeth of Boulder, CO; two granddaughters, Samara Frame Safarik and her husband Matt and Simone Frame, all of Madison, WI, and their mother, Sharon Cassin Frame of Charleston; two grandsons, Misha Jemsek of Norway and Samuel Jemsek of Australia, and their father Greg Jemsek and his wife Sahni of Ashland, Oregon; two great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Rowen Safarik; a former daughter-in-law, Karen Frame of Boulder; two nephews, Glenn Rennels and his wife Peggy and Doug Rennels; two nieces, Sue Rennels and her husband Mike Grisez and Debbie Rennels and her husband Louis Salkind, and five grandnieces, all from California. Mrs. Frame began her school career at the Rennels School, a one-room country school. She graduated from Eastern Illinois Teachers College High School as Valedictorian of the class and from the Eastern Illinois Teachers College in 1942 with high honors and a major in mathematics with minors in science and in secretarial work. She worked half days all during her college years in Eastern's Business Office, and following graduation a year as a full time clerk-typist. After her marriage to Bob, she moved with her husband to Ottawa, IL and taught a year at the Ottawa High School before the birth of their first son, Randy. She spent many years at home, being a wife and mother, but returned to the classroom in 1960 in Oak Park, Illinois. At that time a Master's degree was required to teach at the high school level, so Mrs. Frame decided to try the junior high level and it became her preferred level to teach. She eventually attained her Master's degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1969 but poor health dictated her retirement in 1976. In 1981, following her husband's retirement, they returned to Charleston. While living in Oak Park, Mrs. Frame belonged to AAUW, serving as treasurer. She has been an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Delta Kappa, the Columbian Reading Circle; the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP); a long time member of the Coles County Council on Aging being especially proud of the Lifespan Center; and a member of both the Illinois and Coles County Retired Teacher's Associations. Family held monumental importance to Maxine and she became a mother and grandmother figure to more than just her blood relatives. Maintaining these individual relationships was so important to her and she relied on technology and stayed up-to-date on social media in order to retain a special bond with those she loved. She enjoyed an evening of watching television, especially the classics, and was always knowledgeable about current events and what was going on in the world. She loved animals and following Bob's death, she and her "Cassie Cat" became inseparable. When asked to reflect on her character, adjectives such as gracious, noble, kind and one who possessed a generous spirit come to mind by those who knew and loved her. Her endearing qualities will continue in the lives of those she influenced through her love and devotion.Click to view Family Memorial Video.
