Mary J. Shepard's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Mary J. Shepard, age 86 of Charleston and formerly of Cisco, IL, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 while at the Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. There will be no services locally and a Graveside Service and Inurnment for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the South Macon Cemetery in Macon, IL. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to Adams Funeral Chapel to assist with final expenses. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Mary was born on August 25, 1928 in Cisco, IL, one of 17 children born to the late Harry O. and Amy (Veatch) Shull. She is survived by Deborah Lawrence of Charleston who Mary loved as a daughter; two brothers, George "Tom" Shull of Decatur, IL and Harry "Bud" Shull of Harristown, IL; a sister, Patricia Shull of Maroa, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; many dear friends in the Cisco area; and the Hilltop Staff who lovingly cared for her. She was preceded in death by her 13 siblings. Mary was involved with Faith in Action in Monticello, IL. She had a fiery and feisty personality and lived life accordingly. She enjoyed activities such as skydiving making her last jump at the age of 80. She was especially fond of her family and dearly loved those family members who preceded her. Mary truly appreciated the special mother-daughter relationship that she and Deborah shared.
