Mary Jane Beavers' Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Mary Jane Beavers, age 86 of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday (February 15) from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday immediately following visitation with Reverend Bill Boaz officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon. It is requested that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts in her honor be made to the March of Dimes or to the American Heart Association. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Mary Jane was born on December 26, 1925 in Charleston a daughter of the late Oscar ""Rabbit"" and Daisy Mae (Davis) Gordon. She was married to Robert ""Max"" Beavers and they had two sons. Max preceded her in death on January 17, 1971. She is survived by a loving and devoted son Gary Beavers and his wife Bonnie of Mattoon; two nephews and their families, Dale Kaempflein of St. Peters, Missouri and Richard Kaempflein of Janesville, Wisconsin; and very dear and special friends Jeff and Marla Shoot and Darrell and Bev Newcomb. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary Jane was preceded in death by a son, Mike Beavers; a brother, Jack D. Gordon; and a sister, Anna Mae Kaempflein. Mary Jane was a graduate of Charleston High School and was formerly employed for many years by the Ne-Co Asphalt Company in Charleston. Her memberships included Women of the Moose, Charleston Chapter #1175 and Women of the Elks, Charleston Lodge #623. Mary Jane had previously been in charge of the local March of Dimes Chapter, an organization she strongly supported. She was also a charter member of the Weekend Warriors who met at Mike and Stan's on Saturday mornings. She was affectionately known as ""MJ"" to her family and many friends. MJ loved to travel - she enjoyed going to Florida to visit special friends and the occasional trip to a casino with the girls was usually on her agenda. She was always on the go yet at the same time kept life simple. MJ was happiest when she was sharing time with her family, sitting on her front porch or sharing a cocktail with her many friends. She was a loving and devoted mother to Gary and a faithful friend to many. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
