Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Marilyn was born on September 14, 1935 in rural Ashmore, IL, a daughter of the late Robert James and Electa Verna (Endsley) Miller. She and Ben Edward Wuersch were united in marriage on August 1, 1969 at the First Baptist Church in Charleston and they recently celebrated 46 years of marriage and an even longer friendship. In addition to Ben, she is survived by a loving family which includes her sister, Helen Harwood and her brother, Robert Miller, both of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis (Miller) Shaffer and Charlotte (Miller) Start; a niece and nephew, Ellen Marie Start and Steven Lawrence Start; and a great nephew, James "Jimmy" Harwood. She was affectionately known to everyone as "Mem" , a nickname lovingly bestowed upon her by her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and was a longtime faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church in Charleston. She had a love for children and young people and because of her "young-at-heart" and "fun-loving" qualities, that love was abundantly returned. She enjoyed volunteering as a teacher in the Sunday School department and also helping with the youth groups in the church. Mem's artistic abilities were a gift from God and she used her talent to paint beautiful pictures and to craft various works of art. She shared her gift with students at the Charleston Christian Academy as she taught art classes at the school for a year. Mostly, Mem enjoyed being a homemaker and sharing her life with Ben. When you saw Mem, you usually saw Ben and their love and respect for one another was evident. Mem will forever be remembered as a wonderful and generous lady with a kind heart, a warm and endearing smile, and a passionate love for her family.Click to view Mem's memorial video.
