Gloria was born on September 24, 1931 in Danville, IL, a daughter of the late Edward L. and Mildred D. (Reed) Seidler. She married George Michael on April 10, 1952 in Charleston and he survives. Gloria is also survived by their daughter, Bev Coffey and husband Terry of Ashmore, IL; two grandchildren, Christina Coffey and Clint Coffey, both of Charleston; and a sister-in-law, Ramona Michael of Charleston. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and David Seidler. Gloria was a graduate of Westfield High School and was employed by the J.C. Penny Store located on the west side of the Charleston Square before accepting a position with Eastern Illinois University. For many years she was the assistant manager of the E.I.U. Bookstore located in the University Union. Gloria enjoyed collecting dolls and taking care of her cats but it was the loving devotion she bestowed upon her family as a wife, mother and grandmother that was the focus of her life. George and Gloria were fortunate to share 63 years together as husband and wife. Bev was blessed with not only a loving mother but a best friend who shared her passion for going to festivals and the joy of decorating. Terry received the honor of being her "favorite son-in-law" and she enjoyed making her special apple salad just for him. It was her grandchildren, Clint and Christina, which were her pride and joy. The many trips they experienced together to Disney World created memories to last a lifetime. Gloria was dearly loved and will be missed by her family who will always remember the many loving ways in which she touched their lives and made them feel truly special.Click to view Gloria's memorial video.
