Lowell K. ""Pete"" Simpson's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Pete Simpson, age 53 of Charleston, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his residence. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. There will be no Services following visitation and in accordance with his wishes and those of his family his earthly body will be cremated. It is requested that memorial gifts in his honor be made to his wife Patty to assist with final expenses. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Pete was born on June 8, 1958 in Charleston a son of the late Oscar and Vera (Toops) Simpson. He married Patty Hurst on June 9, 1989 in Kentucky. He is survived by his loving wife Patty of Charleston; a son, Ryan Millage and a daughter, Chelsea Simpson, both of Charleston; a grandson, P.J. of Charleston; a brother, Leonard Carter and wife Martha of Casper, Wyoming; two sisters, Linda Shellabarger and husband Tony and Lana Beasley and husband, Brian, all of Charleston; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by a daughter, Kaitlynn Simpson, a brother, Leland Simpson; and, a sister, Lee Ann Simpson. This was Pete's favorite time of the year. He loved being outdoors and with the onset of spring came the opportunity to go mushroom hunting, do some fishing and plant his vegetable garden - all things he truly enjoyed. He was also fond of playing pool and was a member of the American Pool Players Association. Cooking was also another hobby of Pete's and he was good at it - he did all the cooking for their family outings and for two years was the main cook for the Coles County Coon Hunters Association. One of Pete's most memorable experiences was the hunting trip he took out west with good friend Dave Miller - he was in awe of the beauty and the magnificence of God's creation. Pete liked to keep life simple - he loved his family dearly and Patty, his children and grandson meant the world to him.
