Lorain Tyler's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Lorain Tyler, age 89 of Charleston, passed from this life on Friday, June 30, 2017 while at Grand Strand Health Care Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Visitation will be held from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral chapel with Reverend Dr. Bob Swickard officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery located in Martinsville, Illinois. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to Wesley United Methodist Church. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Edith Lorain Tyler was born October 10, 1927 in Clark County, Illinois, one of four daughters of the late Raymond and Anna (Schotts) Lambdin. She was united in marriage to R. Stanley Tyler on August 21, 1949 in Marshall, Illinois and shared 62 years of marriage and friendship prior to his death on October 4, 2011. Lorain is survived by her children, Richard Tyler (Renae Baffo) of Portland, Oregon, Kent Tyler of Charleston, Scott Tyler also of Portland, and Jane Arthur (Bruce) of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Tyler, Lee Kidwell, Richard Arthur and William Arthur; a great grandchild, Cody Pedigo; her sister, Mary Irwin of Marshall, Illinois and several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, Lorain was also predeceased by two sisters, Nina Stogsdill and Norma Mitchell. Lorain graduated from Marshall High School and furthered her education at Eastern Illinois State Teacher's College where she received her bachelor's degree. She influenced the lives of many young people during her more than 40 years as an elementary school teacher in Carterville, Illinois as well as the Charleston School District. Lorain was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church family in Charleston. She loved flower gardening, traveling, and was a rock hound who had a collection of treasured stones from her many travels. Lorain often shared stories with family and friends of her bountiful and wonderful childhood memories of growing up on the family farm. Lorain was a devoted mother who provided her family a comfortable and inviting home filled with warmth and unconditional love. They will forever cherish their many wonderful memories.
