Lola Dell Eich's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Lola Dell Eich, age 92 of Charleston, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charleston. Graveside Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Union (Greasy Point) Cemetery, north of Rardin, Illinois, with Reverend Bill Boaz officiating. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her honor be made to the Crippled Children's Foundation. Gifts may be left at the Graveside Service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Lola Dell was born on April 28, 1919 on the Rardin farmstead near Rardin, Illinois. She was the only child of the late Charles Guy and Winnie (Annin) Rardin. She married Joseph Charles Eich, Jr. on October 19, 1942 in Stratford, Connecticut and they shared nearly sixty years of marriage and friendship prior to his death on August 22, 2002. Lola Dell is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Eich) Kayser of Webster City, Iowa; a son, Thomas L. Eich and wife Michelle of Charleston; nine grandchildren, Kori (Kayser) Welbes of West Des Moines, Iowa, Brooke (Kayser) Balichek of Oxford Junction, Iowa, Crystal (Eich) Kellner of Rensselaer, Indiana, Tonya J. Eich of Newman, Illinois, C.J. Eich of Joliet, Illinois, Melissa (Eich) Richardson of Amherst, Massachusetts, Lyndzi Sewel of Mattoon, Illinois, Tomra Eich and Cord Eich, both of Charleston; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Lola Dell was preceded in death by a son, Edward J. Eich. Lola Dell was a graduate of Rardin High School and of the Burnham School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse and served as Director of Nursing for both the Charleston Community Hospital in Charleston and the Jarman Hospital in Tuscola, Illinois. She was later employed at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in charge of the Central Sterile Department. She was previously a member of the Women of the Moose, Charleston Chapter #1175 and currently a member of the Women of the Elks, Charleston Lodge #623. Lola Dell worked alongside her husband Joe in the operation of their livestock and grain farm near Rardin. She was a long-time supporter of the 4-H program and traveled the circuit of livestock shows with her family lending her support and encouragement. Lola Dell enjoyed drinking coffee and meeting friends at the local McDonalds Restaurant but her greatest joys came from being with her family, whom she dearly loved. She was a wonderful wife and mother as well as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who always put the needs of her family first. Memories of Lola Dell will always be warmly and lovingly embraced in the hearts of her family and friends.
