Linda J. Stanfield's Obituary
MATTOON, IL - Linda Jane Stanfield, age 63 of Mattoon and formerly of Charleston, joined her dad and her Heavenly Father in their heavenly home on Saturday, November 21, 2015 while at Kindred Hospital in North Lake, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 from Noon until 1:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Ray Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to Mike Stanfield who will establish a trust fund for her son, Kaiden. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Linda was born October 24, 1952 in Mattoon, IL to Carlos D. and Martha M. (Strong) Stanfield. She is survived by her son, Kaiden Stivers of Colorado; her mother, Martha Stanfield of Charleston; two brothers, Mike Stanfield and wife Ginger of Charleston and Tim Stanfield and partner Steven Bott of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Brenda Sue Henderson and fiancé John Goekner of Mattoon; and her nieces and nephews and their families, Mike and Kim Stanfield, Tony and Elisa Stanfield, Tara and Josh Smith, Tyler Stanfield, Travis and Ashlee Stanfield and Karra and Quinton Ford. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father. Linda was a 1970 graduate of Charleston High School and furthered her education by completing the nursing program through Lake Land College. After receiving first her LPN license and then her RN, Linda worked at Mattoon Memorial Hospital before accepting a position as an ER nurse at the newly constructed Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Linda also worked for various long term care facilities in the Central IL area and was a nurse and administrator for Harbor Light Hospice. Her chosen career allowed Linda to help people in a kind, compassionate and caring manner. Linda was a woman whose faith and family was the foundation for her life. She was a member of the Loxa Presbyterian Church and was an extremely family oriented individual. She was particularly devoted to her son Kaiden, and was always present during his ballgames and other activities. Her nieces and nephews were also the recipients of her love and devotion and she was exceedingly proud of all of them. Linda was happiest when surrounded by her family who will always fondly and lovingly remember her as they recall their many wonderful memories.
