CHARLESTON, IL - Lillian Katherine Grant, age 100 of Charleston, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at her Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab residence. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, with Reverend Janice Kahl officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that donations in her honor be made to Wesley United Methodist Church Visitation Ministry or to Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab. Gifts may be left at the visitation/service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.Lillian was born August 3, 1918 in Charleston, the second of eight children born to the late Charles Augustus and Gertrude Mae (Courtney) Lloyd. She married Dennis L. Grant on April 11, 1937 and they shared nearly 67 years of marriage prior to his death on March 7, 2004. Left to cherish her memory is a son, Dennis M. Grant and wife Nancy, and a grandson, Jason Grant, all of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Carlos, Earl, and Francis Eugene Lloyd and her sisters, Alta Kline, Lola Clark, Ellen Starwalt and Martha Adair.Lillian was a member of First Christian Church in Charleston. She was employed at the Brown Shoe Factory and following her marriage to Dennis found great joy and satisfaction in her life job of creating a warm and loving home and caring for her family. She was especially fond of spending time with her grandson, Jason. Lillian was dearly loved by a family who will cherish their many loving memories of her.Click to view Family Memorial Video.Funeral ServiceThe funeral service celebrating the life of Lillian Grant was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Reverend Janice Kahl officiating. Musical selections included ""Be Still My Soul"", ""Precious Lord"", ""On Eagle's Wings"" and ""The Lord's Prayer"". Burial followed in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. Pallbearers were: Terry Kelly, Leland ""Pee Wee"" Bough, Raymond McNary, Gene Prince, Jerry Edwards, and Charles Miller. Honorary Pallbearers were Tom Watson, Randall Lugar and Don Nees.
