Letitia ""Letty"" Amelia Luther's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Letitia Amelia Luther, age 82 of Charleston and formerly of Sauk Village, Illinois, entered her Heavenly Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 10, 2018 while in the comfort of her daughter's home and in the presence of loving family. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 921 Madison Avenue in Charleston. The Memorial Mass honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, with Father Hyland Smith officiating. Services will also be held at St. James Catholic Church, 22400 Torrence Avenue in Sauk Village, Illinois on Thursday, August 16, 2018, with visitation from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass beginning at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in the Oakland Memorial Lanes Cemetery in Dolton, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or St. James Catholic Church. Gifts may be left at the visitation/funeral mass or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.Letty, as she was affectionately known, was born October 20, 1935 in Calumet City, Illinois the only child born to the late Joseph and Mary (Premetz) Fredianelli. She was a graduate of Thornton Fractional High School in Calumet City. She married her loving and devoted husband of sixty four years, Verlyn "Zeke" Luther on March 20, 1954 and he survives. Also left to cherish her memory are her children: Carole Plesha and husband Mike of Knox, Indiana, Janet Sands and husband Mike of Park Forest, Illinois, Mary Del Rio and husband George of Lynwood, Illinois, David Luther of Griffith, Indiana, Doug Luther of Sauk Village, Illinois and Dr. Lori Luther and husband Ray Kuznicki of Charleston; nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.Letty was employed many years with the Sauk Village Police Department, first as a dispatcher and retiring as secretary to the Chief of Police. She was extremely active in her community as a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Sauk Village Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Leisure Timers Seniors Program, and was responsible for starting the Kindergarten program as well as the Girl Scouts program. She has been an active member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and was the area regional District Queen of KOPS (Keeping Off Pounds Sensibly). Following the move to Charleston to be near family, Letty remained active through her membership at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.Letty was a trivia buff and could hold her own when playing Trivial Pursuit, Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune! She also enjoyed playing BINGO and BUNCO with family and friends. She was blessed with an artistic ability and could draw as well as paint. She enjoyed camping and family camping trips with favorite destinations such as Branson, Mackinac Island and Wisconsin Dells, and possessed official papers to confirm that she was an avid and die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. Letty's family was her pride and joy and her grandchildren were one of God's blessings that she truly enjoyed. Memories of this special wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will always be treasured in the hearts of those who loved her.Funeral ServiceA Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Letitia Luther was held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston with Father Hyland Smith officiating and Deacon Jeff Beals assisting. Mr. Ray Kuznicki, son-in-law of the deceased gave the eulogy. George and Mary Del Rio, daughter and son-in-law of the deceased served as Lectors. Pianist, Glenna Murphy and Violinist, Terry Coulton accompanied the Cantor, Mrs. Bernie Pluard who led the singing of ""I Heard the Voice of Jesus"", ""Be Not Afraid"", ""Psalm 42"", ""Shepherd Mr, O God"", ""You Are Mine"", ""Ave Maria"" and ""On Eagle's Wings"". Deacon Jeff Beals along with Penny Clay and Mikayla Kuznicki served as Eucharistic Ministers; Dan Ensign and Jerry Herman served as Ushers and Gift Bearers; Austin and Samantha Fehrenbacher were the Servers; and Penny Clay was Registry Hostess. The Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Letitia Luther was held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church in Sauk Village, Illinois with Father Hyland Smith officiating.
