Les was born on December 23, 1930 in Ottumwa, Iowa, a son of the late Glenn and Margaret (Finch) Trueblood. He married Vicki E. Norman on October 5, 1969 and they have celebrated 45 years of marriage. In addition to his wife Vicki, Les is survived by their son Dr. Ted Trueblood and his wife Dr. Janelle Trueblood of Aitkin, MN; 4 grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Grace, Hannah, Caleb and Nathanael Trueblood; two brothers, Bob Trueblood and Arlo (Carolyn) Trueblood, all of Arbela; a sister, Joyce Spidel of Milan, IL; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Les also leaves his canine companions, Sam and Bently, who were always by his side. Les was raised on the family farm in Arbela and his love for farming remained with him throughout his life. He always enjoyed returning there for visits and talking with brother, Arlo about the year's crops. Les was employed with Moore Business Forms for 40 years, working in their Missouri and Maryland facilities before transferring to the Charleston plant. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran who proudly and honorably served his country during the Korean War. Les was a member of the Old State Road Christian Church and a life member of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 and for several years, faithfully served as a member of the VFW Honor Guard. Many of Les' interests were direct reflections of his love for the outdoors such as working in the yard, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Les also possessed an artistic ability, was quite the handyman, and loved going to auctions in search of useful items or treasures he could gift to those he loved. Les was often quiet and soft-spoken, and was a man whose integrity and family values were exemplified by the way in which he lived his life. He was devoted to his family and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather to his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Grandpa Les" . The family and friends of Les Trueblood have been blessed with an abundance of wonderful and fond memories of special times shared.Click to view Les's memorial video.
