CHARLESTON, IL - King Joseph Arthur, age 56 of Charleston, entered his Heavenly Home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 while at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastor Ray Finney and Reverend Dr. Thomas Hawkins and Reverend Jan Hawkins officiating. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday from Noon until service time. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to a charity of the donor's preference. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. King was born on August 30, 1958 in Terre Haute, Indiana, a son of the late Jack and Barbara (Housefield) Arthur. He married Christina Finney on July 21, 1990 in Charleston and she survives. He is also survived by three children, sons, Jeffrey Arthur and wife Paige of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Andy Arthur of Marshall, Illinois and his daughter, Cassidy Arthur of Charleston; four grandchildren, Jade, Austin, Ella and Anna Arthur; three brothers, Jeff Arthur of Niles, Michigan, Jim Arthur and wife Tia of Marshall, Illinois, Jerry "Boo" Arthur of Danville, Illinois; a sister, Jackie Woolsey and husband Rich of Terre Haute, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews and their families. King considered Chris's family to be his own and is also survived by her parents, Al and Sharon Finney of Charleston, and her brothers and their families, Roy Finney of Charleston and Danny Finney and wife Marie of Westfield, Illinois. King faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1979 - 1982. He was an 18 year employee of Trailmobile in Charleston and following their closing he accepted a position with Eastern Illinois University in the Building Services Department. He also served as a part time custodian for the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. King was happiest when he could be outdoors enjoying some of his favorite hobbies such as fishing and mushroom hunting. He was often accompanied by his beloved canine companion, Josie. King was always ready to hear the words "let's go racing boys" which meant it was time for NASCAR and cheering on his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. In his earlier years, King was an Amateur Boxer and was the 1975-1976 Indiana Golden Glove State Champion. Nothing was more precious to King than his family. He dearly loved them and treasured living each day to its fullest with them by his side.
