Kenneth ""Corkey"" Stingley's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Kenneth D. "Corkey" Stingley, age 69 of Charleston, entered his Heavenly Home on November 3, 2017 while at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. His family will host a Memorial Service honoring and celebrating his life beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at East Harrison Street Church of God, 17996 East Harrison Street Road in Charleston, with Pastor Curt Weaver officiating. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to East Harrison Street Church of God. Gifts may be mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Kenneth was born February 1, 1948 in Charleston, Illinois, a son of the late Louis and Kathleen (Huddleston) Stingley. He married Cathy L. Burwell on March 19, 1967 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage earlier this year. In addition to his loving wife Cathy, left to cherish his memory is a son, Steven D. Stingley of Humboldt, Illinois; a daughter, Renee Ann Fuller of Charleston; five grandchildren, Natasha, Christopher and Hannah Stingley and Jordan and Caleb Fuller; and a sister, Beverly Pederson and husband Matt of Charleston. In addition to his parents he was preceded by a son, Kevin Duane Stingley; a sister Loydean Delasantos; and a brother Dale Gatewood. Corkey was an accomplished welder and was formerly employed at Trailmobile in Charleston and Telescoping Seating in Altamont, Illinois. He enjoyed collecting coins and teaching his welding skills to others. Corkey was always willing to help anyone in need and will continue to do so through his gift as an organ and tissue donor. Memories of this loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather will always be cherished and treasured by his family.
