Kenneth ""Ed"" Hudson's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Kenneth E. "Ed" Hudson, age 71 of Charleston, was at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, and in the comforting presence of his family, when he went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 28, 2015. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Dennis Tracy officiating. The family would prefer that those attending dress casually. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston with Military Honors conducted by the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to a church or charity of the donor's preference. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Ed was born February 10, 1944 in Charleston, IL to the late Kenneth and Nelda (Briggs) Hudson. He married Nancy (Abernathy) Black on July 18, 1986 in Charleston. He is survived by Nancy, his loving wife of 29 years; a daughter, Sherrie McAninch; a son, Jason Hudson; a stepson, Doug Black and his girlfriend, Barbara Irwin of Charleston; 7 grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, Kim, Kenton, Dallas, Austin, and Megan; one great-grandchild; a brother, Joe Hudson of Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Leslie Hudson of Arizona and Marsha Hudson of Mattoon; a brother-in-law, Bob Lawhorn of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Hudson; a sister, Katherine "Kack" Lawhorn; a stepdaughter, Mary Kay Drake; his in-laws, Fred and Mattie Tomberlin; and a dear family friend, Jim Nickell. Ed was a graduate of Charleston High School. He faithfully and proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Ed was a member of University Baptist Church in Charleston and a Life Member of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 where he served on the Honor Guard. Ed's interests included repairing old clocks and as a lover of history his television was usually tuned in to the History Channel. The only other hobby that Ed had was completing the tasks on Nancy's "honey-do" list which were often quite extensive. He was an extremely family oriented individual and could always be relied upon to help anyone who needed assistance.
