Judy I. Gillespie's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Judy Ida Gillespie was born April 8, 1948 in Vallejo, California and was raised to the presence of God on October 24, 2019. She passed away in her farm home of 49 years in Charleston, Illinois surrounded by the love of her family. Judy moved with her parents, Mabel and Charles Fowler, to Charleston as she was approaching her teenage years. Her half-sisters, Jennie Rodgers and Gertrude Gross were already grown. She met the love of her life, Lowell Owen Gillespie, in high school and they married on June 4, 1966. Together, they built a home where she raised four children - Michael (wife Jill), Kimberly (husband Todd Clodfelder), Matthew, and Katina (husband Charles Ferrell). Judy looked after the household, farm and everyone who came to the farm with Charity, Love and Acceptance. She was the head cook at Charleston High School where she cherished all of the children who passed through. The church was also very important to her, where she grew in Faith and shared great Wisdom. She also enjoyed seeing her children building their own families. She adored looking after her grandchildren - Jason (wife Ashley), Dustin, Colton, Alex, and Sarah, and her great-grandchildren, Averie and Aubrie. She was an observer and archiver of everyone's travels, games and events. She spent her spare time creating scrapbooks, photo albums, collages and memories of all those she loved. A time to visit with family will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 2206 Fourth Street, Charleston, Illinois. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. followed by a dinner and time of sharing to be held in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers you are invited to donate to Lincolnland Hospice or to Compassion International, a sponsorship Charity that was dear to Judy for many years.
