Judith J. Winnett's Obituary
Judith J. Winnett, 80, of Charleston, IL passed away on December 31, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.
Judy was born on October 10, 1944, northeast of Charleston in Morgan Township. She was the fourth daughter and fifth child of seven children born to the late Oather and Pauline (Bradford) Daugherty. She married Jim Winnett on March 12, 1966, in Bushton, IL and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2008.
She is survived by two children, Melanie Davis of Charleston, IL, Michelle Green of Charleston, IL, and stepchildren Teresa Jewell & Family, and Jimmy Winnett & Family; three granddaughters, Janielle Davis, Jocelyn (Anthony) Pritchard, and Shayla Taylor (Significant Other Tristen Searls); three great-grandchildren Clara, Rebecca, and Steven Pritchard; and three siblings, Carol Smith (Significant Other Leif Mortensen) of Charleston, IL, Kathy Daugherty of Savoy, IL, and Tom (Julie) Daugherty of Clarksville, TN. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Oather and Pauline Daugherty and three siblings, Billie (Edward) Walters, Max (Ardis) Daugherty, and Sue McKinney.
Judy graduated from Charleston High School in 1962 and worked as a Legal Secretary for 24 years and other secretarial positions, retiring from Consolidated Communications. She was also an Avon Representative for 41 years and was the recipient of many awards. She served for decades as an Election Judge at the Coles County Courthouse. Judy believed in Angels and sensed their presence in her life and considered them spiritual messengers bringing God's Love and Protection over her. She enjoyed traditional country and gospel music, but most of all she loved being a mom and grandma and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, whom she adored immensely.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brad Brown officiating. Burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery following the funeral service.
